How do I get started with Fitbit and FitnessSyncer?

The easiest way to get started is to follow our Getting Started Guide, which will walk you through how to exchange data between Fitbit and many other services!

Are you looking to get more out of our Fitbit integration? Check out our How It Works, which will walk you through how to unlock the full power of FitnessSyncer.

My steps are now showing up on my Fitbit Dashboard; why?

Fitbit does not show your steps in the 7-day total, and steps uploaded from any third party do not count in any challenges. To see any activities we uploaded, use Fitbit’s Activity Log.

To participate in Challenges, you must use Fitbit hardware or use a device agnostic service like FitnessSyncer Leaderboards.

Nothing seems to happen when I click Sync on my Fitbit sources; why?

For Fitbit, we get immediately notified whenever you sync or add a new activity on their end, and thus, the sync button usually does not find anything. If you are missing something and you are a Pro user, you can use our Historic Sync feature or contact us.

My Fitbit only shows 30 days of data; can I get more?

You can do a Historic Sync and get all of our data with a Pro Account by editing your Fitbit source and selecting from the toolbar.

Can I sync all of my history to Fitbit?

Any history after January 1, 2007 can be uploaded to Fitbit. Fitbit does not allow activities before this.

My Treadmill activities are not syncing with services like Smashrun, TrainingPeaks, etc.; why?

Fitbit only generates proper TCX files for activities with GPS data, and as such, we do not have the rich data required to be useful at services that require detailed activity data.

My Fitbit steps or distance is off.

Fitbit allows us to either upload steps or distance, and infers the other based on the data in your account. To control whether we upload steps or distance, change the “Prefer steps over distance” setting under Profile.

Also, note that Fitbit limits how many activities per day a person can perform. If you are using a service such as Google Fit, which has many small activities, you may need to filter down the activities. Look at the device-specific documentation or contact us for assistance.

Why is my Fitbit nutrition data missing Carbohydrates and other values?

For any data that Fitbit licenses, they do not provide the detailed nutritional data to us.

I have downloaded my JSON data from Fitbit; how do I process it?

We do not support importing downloaded data from Fitbit. Instead, please use our native integration to download your data, resulting in a far better data import experience for you.
